ONGC net up 71%

OIL and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), the country's biggest oil exploration company, here reported a 71 per cent jump in March quarter net profit at Rs 3,776 crore, as against Rs 2,207 crore in the year-ago period, on higher crude oil realisation. Net sales grew over 7 per cent to Rs 14,713 crore, compared to Rs 13,703 crore earlier. ONGC shares touched a monthly high of Rs 1,145 on the Bombay Stock Exchange and closed 0.50 per cent up at Rs 1,130.95.
