摘要

The possible relationship between head trauma and Parkinson's disease (PD) has been a subject of debate since James Parkinson's original description in 1817 [1]. Recent studies indicated that the age-adjusted prevalence rate of PD in retired Thai traditional boxers is comparable to that in the general population; however, it is the number of professional bouts undertaken by a boxer that pose a risk factor, suggesting that repetitive head traumas pose additional risk to certain individuals who are already susceptible to PD [2].
