Background: Substantia nigra hyperechogenicity (SN+) has been proposed as a risk marker of Parkinson's disease (PD). Asymptomatic LRRK2 mutation carriers (aLRRIC2+), at high risk for developing PD, provide an opportunity for the study of preclinical biomarkers.
