Parking enforcement has been suspended in areas of Croydon affected by flooding to provide more spaces for residents unable to park on their streets. The south London council has halted enforcement of single and double yellow lines and parking bays in parts of Kenley and Purley until 1 March, when the situation will be reviewed by the council. "Thousands of homes in the south of the borough have been affected by flooding," said Zakki Ghauri, Croydon's business development manager. "An underground river runs through the area, so we were getting water seeping up through the floorboards of some homes."
