Ornamentals as new host of Meloidogyne spp. in Pakistan.

Surveys were conducted in Karachi, Pakistan, in 2009, for the presence of plant parasitic nematodes in plant roots. Results showed that butterfly pea (Clitoria ternatea) and motia (Jasminum sambac) were infested with Meloidogyne incognita and M. javanica based on microsopic examinations of galls and morphological analysis of the nematodes. This is thought to be the first record of M. incognita and M. javanica infesting the ornamentals C. ternatea and J. sambac in Pakistan.
