Union Budget 2010-2011

INSTEAD of the traditional 28 February, this year the Budget was presented on 26 February because 28 February happened to be Sunday. Mr Pranab Mukherjee was presenting his second Budget. In 2009 the Indian economy was facing grave uncertainties and the business sentiment was weak. At home there was added uncertainty on account of the delayed and sub-normal south-west monsoon, which had undermined the kharif crop in the country. The FM stated. "I can say with confidence that we have weathered well these crises. Indian economy is in a far better position than it was a year ago." After these preliminary remarks the FM presented his Budget.
