摘要

As of August 1996, Japan had lifted 71 artificial satellites into orbits around the Earth. Of them, 38 were launched by the National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA) starting with Kiku-1, a technological experimental satellite, in 1975. Amongthem is the Advanced Earth Observing Satellite (ADEOS), designed to make comprehensive observations of the Earth including both its oceans and its atmosphere. In this age of growing concern for the Earth's deteriorating environment, expectations are high that the observation data from ADEOS will contribute significantly to the resolution of global environmental problems.
