摘要

As of October 1, 1996, Japan's population stood at 125.86 million. Needless to say, this figure is based on a statistical survey. Statistics are compiled to quantitatively identify the characteristics of a given group and unfolding trends. As such, they can provide very useful data for objectively understanding a particular country. This month we take a look at some of the statistical surveys currently being conducted in Japan, and present a glimpse of various aspects of Japanese society through graphs based on their statistical data.
