Developing Human Resources to Stay Abreast with Technological Innovation: The Saitama Polytechnic Center

Technological innovation and information systems are advancing rapidly in present-day Japan, and corporate and other employees are expected to be able to respond flexibly to these advances. Meanwhile, partly because Japan's lifetime employment systemhas begun to collapse, there are many workers who hope to improve their skills and switch to jobs that will make better use of their talents. Polytechnic Centers, set up in 65 places throughout Japan, help those who have lost or changed their jobs, as well as those currently employed, develop vocational skills through practical training. Among them is the Saitama Polytechnic Center in Urawa City, Saitama Prefecture.
