Distortions in world steel trade - views from the German and international steel trade

Not the trade conflict with the USA and its underlying problems pose a real threat to steel distributors in Europe, but the cyclic steel price rises and falls. During a cyclic price rise, steel distributors are presented with the problem of rising procurement prices which they can only follow with a delay. And during a cyclic fall in prices, they are not only forced to immediately follow the trend of falling procurement prices but also to depreciate their inventories.
