New hot rolling technology for thin strip rolling in a direct sheet plant

Corus Strip Products has built a facility for thin slab casting and in-line rolling on its IJmuiden, Netherlands site: the direct sheet plant. The basics of the cast-rolling processes are described as well as the highlights of the mill design, which has ben based on in-house research by Corus Research and Development and technology developed by Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery. Finally recent results are presented.
