Bristol Bay fishermen have nearly 1 million dollar in the bank, the down payment in an experiment to discover if lightning can strike twice. The first hit was on the Copper River fishery. No one dreams that Bristol Bay will become a cachet and a cliché like the first-of-the-season fishery out of Cordova. But there's a lot of room for improvement on the bay. "We can learn from anybody and anything, but Copper River has done a lot of things right," says Executive Director Bob Waldrop of the Bristol Bay Regional Seafood Development Association.
