Pedaling across Eurasia: From Geneva to Tokyo

On March 12, 1994, I left my hometown Geneva, Switzerland, by bicycle with the foolish dream of reaching Tokyo overland two years later. The 46,000-kilometer road through the Eurasian continent brought me to its most remote corners across deserts and mountains. Born at the foot of the Alps, I have been fascinated with the Himalayas since my childhood. After a three-year trip on two wheels (1988-1991) from Switzerland to India and back, I wanted to cross at any cost their northern slope — Tibet.
