Salmon fraud abounds

The August issue of Consumer Reports featured an article about farmed salmon fraudulently sold as wild fish. The practice is well-known and has been extensively reported, but Consumer Reports editors seemed surprised by how common the fish fraud actually is. The good news for salmon fishermen is that they have a product worth counterfeiting. The bad news is that there are plenty of unscrupulous operators out there who are perfectly willing to sell inferior farmed fish as a wild product. Who wouldn'tsell sow's ear at a silk purse price, if they could get away with it?
