Judge reinstates limited Steller sea lion research

A federal judge in late June lifted her ban on Steller sea lion research and allowed certain "noninvasive" work to continue. The order meant that work to count and observe sea lions from boats and planes and with remote-controlled cameras could continue. Other activities such as capturing or branding sea lions remained disallowed, pending a federal study.
