Astoria readies defenses for another sea lion invasion

Nuisance animals: In February, Oregon's Port of Astoria announced that it will partner with local students in an ongoing war against the thousands of sea lions that flood the port's commercial fishing docks at the East Mooring Basin each year.Last summer, the large animals hauled out onto the basin's docks in record numbers, deafening passersby and swamping the docks. The port says it anticipates that upwards of 2,000 sea lions will return to the docks this summer.
