摘要

Pleasing pollock A season: Compared to last year's messy pollock B season, this A season has been downright boring. That's actually a good thing. Fishing in the Bering Sea, for the most part, was quick and clean. The frigid winter caused few major problems for pollock fishermen, since their grounds lay primarily south and west of the ice extent. By mid-March, the in-shore fleet crews were already leaving boats behind and going home. And the fishery didn't just wrap up earlier than it did last springsimply because the allocation had been brought down slightly to 472,000 metric tons: All sectors were fishing at a faster rate overall, according to National Marine Fisheries Service data.
