摘要

It is hard to imagine a more unlikely location for a successful shrimp fishery than a lake in the interior of British Columbia — 180 miles from the nearest saltwater — but that is exactly what is going on at Okanagan. Since 2000, two companies havebeen operating on B.C.'s Okanagan Lake, better known for its retirement communities, hot summers, and sunbathing vacationers than it is for its shrimp population. The shrimp in question are Mysis diluviana, a species that was introduced into Okanagan Lake by the provincial Lands, and Natural Resource Operations, the experimental Mysis fishery on Okanagan Lake has been ongoing since 2000 and is currently being used as a tool in kokanee recovery efforts.
