Hungry Stellers: California sea lions ate fewer salmon below the Columbia River's Bonneville Dam this spring — the least in the past eight years. But their ESA-protected cousins, Steller sea lions, broke all-time records for their Chinook and steelhead gluttony during the same period. That was one message gleaned from a report released in October from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Portland Fisheries Field Unit, detailing the presence and eating habits of both species of sea lions near the dam this year.
