Pete Schonberg holds a doctorate in inorganic chemistry. That means he can teach at a university or rub shoulders with other smart guys in Silicon Valley. Instead, he's an Alaska commercial fisherman. Why? Better money. "After grad school, I was getting offers from the East Coast. They offered about a third of what I was making fishing." Decision made. Schonberg grew up in California and went to high school in Palo Alto, home of Stanford University and the cradle of a bunch of Silicon Valley startups. His father is a physicist.
