摘要

Japan has few natural resources, and has suffered through two oil crises. Ever since then, Japan has worked hard to improve the efficiency of its energy consumption, and to develop alternative, non-oil energy sources. Global warming has become an issue of concern worldwide, and Japan has responded by increasing its efforts in energy advances. This Special Report looks at how Japan is working to develop sustainable sources of energy and new methods of energy conservation.IF YOU AREN'T CAREFUL, the stiff sea breeze blowing into this seaside pastureland is enough to make you lose your footing. 60 meters overhead, giant rotors with a diameter greater than the entire wingspan of a jumbo jet (63.4 m) turn strongly in the wind.
