Japanese Singer with a Philippine Heart: Ted Ito

A 41-year-old Japanese singer who enjoys nationwide popularity in the Philippines, although little known in his home country — Ted Ito by name. Some other Japanese pop singers, such as the super duo of Chage & Asuka, are also enjoying great success elsewhere in Asia. Ito, however, is a rare case, having established his popularity in another Asian country without the backing of any big company and with Japanese songs he sings in the local language, having debuted with a local recording firm.
