Southeast trollers take summer Chinook in short order

Fast fishery: Southeast Alaska fishermen needed only five days to nearly reach their harvest target in the first Chinook salmon opening of the general summer commercial troll season.The fishery opened just after midnight July 1.The fleet had a quota for the first opening of 122,000 Chinook under provisions of the Pacific Salmon Treaty, plus an Alaska hatchery contribution not subject to treaty limits, for a total harvest target of 125,800 fish.
