While pollock may be the Bering Sea's biggest commercial fishery and crab may be its most lucrative, there's a good argument to be made this year that Pacific cod is its most efficient. By the end of February, almost all sectors had harvested their Aseason quota. The catcher-processors were in and out in three weeks, and the trawl catcher vessels were right on their tails, taking a little over a month to fish their allocation. The pot vessels had a particularly quick season.
