San Francisco Bay herring fishermen activate suit over oil spill

San Francisco Bay fishermen have activated a lawsuit seeking damages for long-term effects on herring spawning grounds following a 2007 oil spill. The lawsuit was originally filed just days after the spill but wasn't pursued as lawyers attempted to negotiate a settlement between gillnetters and shipping interests. In mid-April, however, lawyers representing fishermen renewed the legal campaign, while leaving the door open for further negotiations.
