Popcorn lines now producing at Universal Flexible Packaging's new factory

Popcorn production has begun at the new Universal Flexible Packaging factory in Lewisher Road, Leicester, UK. The company announced in September 2014 its plan to spend ?11 million on expansion, then revealed in January this year that it would be investing a further ?2.3 million in its existing Lunsford Road plant. Four popcorn lines have now been installed and commissioned at Lewisher Road, and Universal Flexible Packaging is on schedule to produce 45 million bags in 2015. A staff of 100 will be employed by mid-March, and it is estimated that more than 1,000,000kg of raw corn and 250,000kg of sugar will have been processed by 2016.
