Sustainability: The Journal of Record (SJoR): What is the relationship between the overall Smithfield organizational culture and your sustainability goals and practices? Mr. Treacy: At Smithfield, we believe that a strong business yields strong sustainability performance, and that our sustainability strategy strengthens our business. We have developed strong sustainability management, which spans from the facility level to our executive management and board of directors. More than a decade ago, we identified several sustainability areas that merited a more consistent management approach across the company to meet our goal of leading the industry with our practices.
