Finance 101 for Sustainability Coordinators

Sustainability officers come equipped with a broad-based knowledge, but finance is not generally among their areas of expertise. So why should they consider financial professionals as sustainability partners? First, financial data can be used to bridge the divide between groups that must work together to further the goals of sustainability. Forging such partnerships will involve learning the language of finance and the ability to use financial metrics correctly, including incorporating them into sustainability presentations. Second, and most importantly, financial data helps to paint a complete picture of sustainability projects and to build an action-oriented climate action plan.
