Roundtable: Activism on Campus: Environmental groups partner with students, staff, and administration to promote sustainability

The United States Census projected that 15.9 million students would he enrolled in U.S. colleges and universities last fall. That's quite a few prospective stewards of the environment. But how many of them actually know what sustainability is, or careenough to foster it? Is interest and activism by 10 percent of the student population sufficient to protect the planet? 50 percent? 80 percent? Sustainability: The Journal of Record gathered representatives of nonprofits and a university professor to talk about how environmental groups are encouraging student—and staff—engagement, how they all could work better together, and the effectiveness of their efforts.
