摘要

As authors of a related article, we read with interest the recent publication by Plastaras et al. [1] concerning intra-discal injections occurring during the process of performing transforaminal epidural steroid injections (TFESI) [1]. This is the second retrospective study attempting to quantify the incidence of intradiscal injections during lumbar TFESI. The authors observed a lower incidence of intradiscal injections (14/8132 or 0.17%) compared with our retrospective review (6/2414 or 0.25%) [2], They stated in their discussion that if we were to combine our data, inadvertent intradiscal injections occurred in 20/10544 or 0.19% of cases [1].
