Keeping track of "green" legislation is not an easy task for paint manufacturers or retailers. There are laws in various jurisdictions that continue to put strict limits on the VOC content of paints and coatings. There are post-consumer paint management laws that are being implemented in a growing number of states across the country (see page 33 of this issue for Tammy Adamson-McMullen's excellent article on how these laws are affecting retailers). Your painting contractor customers, meanwhile, are dealing with the EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule, which requires that they be certified to perform work that disturbs lead-based paint in homes, child-care facilities and preschools built before 1978.
