Vermont has followed other states by requiring manufacturers of mercury-containing lamps to establish and finance a recycling program for spent bulbs from residents and small businesses.Designed to protect Vermont's waterways and natural environment, the law requires manufacturers to pay for recycling costs, which is consistent with other product stewardship legislation enacted in the state and elsewhere.
