TiO2 - The Ubiquitous WHite PIGMENT

If any class of pigments used by industry today can authentically stake a claim for ubiquity, that class would be comprised of those derived from the chemistry and physics of a titanium dioxide (TiO2) core particle. With very few exceptions (e.g., expanded polystyrene cups, which derive their opacity from the inclusion of air voids), if an item is white it probably contains TiO2 pigment - particularly so if the opacity of the item is an important performance attribute.
