The winter he opened his paint store in Fraser, Colorado, George Wylie realized that selling paints and stains wouldn't generate enough revenue during ski season, when business is slow. He brainstormed ideas for other products he could offer in Wylie's Paint Store, a Benjamin Moore dealer with a feel that Wylie likens to a hip skate or music shop. He finally setded on high-quality hunting knives, placing his first order a few months later, in June 2011, with Benchmade Knife Company, which makes blades that sell for about $100 to $400. "They're just a great American-made company," said Wylie. "I talked with the rep and told him I'd like to bring in knives. A lot of the contractors up here are sportsmen as well."
