When Garth and Kim Getchell sold their commercial construction company and retired in 2005, they looked forward to enjoying some of their favorite pursuits, such as skiing and backpacking the Sierra backcountry. However, when one of their paint subcontractors, Pat McCauley, showed them his idea for an adjustable paintbrush extension arm, those plans changed. The idea intrigued the Getchells so much, they purchased the idea from McCauley.
