In 2011, the paint and coatings industry has made consider-able progress in living up to 13 the challenges of creating high-performance products that comply with tightening VOC regulations. Just a decade ago, in the pages of this magazine, paint manufacturers were expressing concern about reducing VOC content from the 250 gram-per-liter limit for flat coatings in the national regulation to a 100-gram limit that already was occurring in the South Coast Air Quality Management District in California and was soon to be adopted by the Ozone Transport Commission.
