Independent We Stand, the national small-business movement, recently announced the winner of its 2016 America's Main Streets contest: It's downtown Lynden, Washington. It will receive $25,000 in cash and other revitalization-related prizes. Downtown Lynden is notable for having been rebuilt after a fire. "Winning this contest is huge," said Ken Stap, president of the Lynden Downtown Business Association. "This award will play a major role in helping reestablish Lynden's downtown as the heart and soul of our community, for residents and visitors alike."
