Whenever the economic climate is uncertain, the tendency among business people is to batten down the hatches and ride out the storm. In such a climate, there aren't many who are inclined to try new things. "New" equates to "risk," and risk can lead to failure. However, keep in mind that there is also risk involved in doing nothing. If you pass up enough opportunities, your business suffers from inertia. An object at rest tends to stay at rest, and it will take a great deal of effort to go from an inert state back to a robust, energetic business.
