An Australian scientist has discovered that lions and other predators get a little nervous about attacking animals with eyeballs painted on their rear ends. Since lions prefer to sneak up on their prey from behind, researchers speculate that when the big cats see the painted eyes, they think they're been spotted and often abandon an attack, suspecting they have lost the element of surprise.
