When closing a sale, many paint-store employees think of applicators as an afterthought, if at all. That's understandable, because while painters almost always need paint to start a job, they don't always need brushes. Still, it's a way of thinking about selling applicators that's becoming more outmoded by the day, as the uses for which these tools are designed continue to become more varied and specialized.
