摘要

Inadequate disclosure of information in medical publications has received increasing attention. Disclosure of funding sources and authorship contributions make it possible for investigators, clinicians, and the public to be informed consumers of research. Studies of disclosure in medicine have documented the presence of nontransparency [7,26,32,35], which can undermine the reader's ability to understand fully the context in which the information is being presented and interpreted. In response to calls for increased transparency [1,4,9,14,21-24,29,31,36,37,39], medical journals are increasingly changing their policies and requiring disclosure of more information about financial support and authorship contributions [2,10-12,16,17,19,20,28,30,37].
