A homogeneous aqueous ink is disclosed that is capable of producing dark,machine-readable markings exhibiting fluorescence when exposed to fluorescent-exciting radiation,the ink being of suitable viscosity and surface tension for use in ink jet printing.The ink comprises a first and second colourant and an aq.liquid vehicle.
