The stem cell debate exists at several levels in society.The political and ethical aspects with respect to the research is clear from the United States and its current administration's restrictions on federal funding for work on human embryonic stem-cell lines.Funding for stem cell research divides the EU.For example,Europe's Sixth Framework Program makes a commitment to fund a collaborative project on how human embryonic stem cells differentiate into neurons.Potential investment returns provoke the issue of patentability of inventions in this field to preclude others to commercialize the results.
