WITH the gradual phasing out of items reserved for manufacture in the small scale sector, the government on Tuesday decided that 20 per cent of its annual procurement would be from micro and small enterprises.Government departments and state run companies make purchases worth Rs 1,75,000 crore annually. About Rs 35,000 crore worth of goods will now be procured from micro and small enterprises that account for 45 per cent of all Indian production and 40 per cent of exports.
