摘要

Sealants based on hybrid polymers such 'as silyl-terminated polyethers combine good weathering characteristics,paintability and stain resitance,and excellent adhesion to a wide range of substrates.In silyl-terminated polyether sealants the mineral component can represent over 50% of the mass of the sealant.The choice of mineral will therefore have an impact on the processing and ultimate performance of the sealant.This paper evaluates the performance of minerals in such sealants.Specifically,the effects of coated ground calcium carbonates on sealant stability,rheology and curing and hardened tensile properties are reported.The potential impats on the sealant process route are discussed in paralle.The results demonstrate that sealant production processes can be simplfied and sealant properties improved through selection adn control of the physical properties of the mineral component.
