When Colin Waite, having servd his apprenticeship at W F Donald Ltd followed by stints with several different companies, took a job at Harry Young Panelbeaters in Kingsiand. He had not been there long before Harry decided to sell the business due to ill health. It was 1959 and at 30 years of age Colin decided to take the plunge. He borrowed money from his father and Colin Waite Panelbeaters began trading, The premises, shared by R C Turley Carpainters, barely held six cars at a time but there was ample carparking nearby which was required as under new leadership the business experienced rapid expansion.
