Study of different coatings for protection against corrosion under insulation/fire proofing

In process industries, corrosion of equipment takes place beneath the thermal insulation fire proofing. Common non engineering materials affected are: carbon steels, low alloy steels and stainless steels. Water ingress through the insulation/fireproofing causes corrosion. There are many factors but temperature has a major play. In practice, it is difficult to avoid the ingress of responsible water into the thermally proofed system.
