[3+2] Cycloaddition of Azomethine Imines and Alkynes with Copper(I) Zeolites

The catalytic utility of copper(I)-modified USY zeolite (Cu'-USY) for the cycloaddi-tion of azomethine imines was described. Thus,[3+2] cycloaddition of azomethine imines 1 andterminal alkynes 2 was carried out with 5 mol%Cu-USY in toluene to give the correspondingN,N-bicyclic pyrazolidinone derivatives 3 in 0-90% isolated yield (16 examples).
