The Next Frontier in RNA

摘要

In recent years,the ability to silence genes with RNA interference has revolutionised biology.Knocking down gene products enables researchers to confirm experimental hypotheses and make conclusions about biological pathways and processes.The ability to demonstrate phenotypic alterations in animals represents the ultimate confirmation of conclusions arrived at in vitro,making a move to in vivo applications the logical progression for RNAi research.Furthermore,there is an intense research effort aimed at developing short interfering RNAs(siRNA)for therapeutic purposes.In the present study,we demonstrate the key components for successful RNAi in vivo in a xenograft tumour.
