Until now, installing fieldbus in hazardous locations has been an expensive process. Recent developments have made it much cheaper and less expensive for users in the processing industries. MANY articles have been written over the past several years about installing fieldbus in hazardous locations, mostly extolling a specific vendor's point of view and equipment recommendations, but few have outlined how we got to where we are.
